The Benefits of Reflexology for Managing Menopause Symptoms

I’ve spoken before about my personal experience navigating peri-menopause and menopause and the many approaches I explored along the way. I spent quite a lot of money on supplements, although Ashwagandha did help with anxiety, none of the other made much difference (other than to my bank balance!). One therapy I didn’t try at the time was reflexology. Looking back, I genuinely wish I had, because what I know now suggests it’s something I would absolutely have explored.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) outlines that reflexologists can only make specific, carefully defined claims so making claims about improving menopausal systems need to be considered within these boundaries. The ASA allow Relflexologists to state they can support deep relaxation, reduce stress, enhance general wellbeing, improve moods, aid sleep, and help the body maintain its natural balance. Reflexology is also recognised as a complementary therapy which is something that works alongside, not in place of, conventional medical care and can support those experiencing stress, anxiety, or tension.
However, as I’ve shared in previous posts, client experiences often tell a broader story.
I have the privilege of working with women in both peri-menopause and post-menopause, and through regular reflexology treatments, I’ve witnessed meaningful changes. Many of my clients report improvements that go beyond the core claims particularly when treatments are consistent over time. What stands out most is the reduction in stress and the improvement in sleep which seem to be the foundation for many of the positive changes women experience.
It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes, supporting the body in simple, foundational ways can have far-reaching effects. If you’ve tried all the supplements without success, why not try something new! If you are a woman experiencing menopausal symptoms and would like to try a reflexology session, please do get in touch.
